Sufjan Stevens & Angelo de Augustine - A Beginner's Mind REVIEW

This album is emotional, beautiful, luscious, and soft. Though it starts off a bit sleepy with "Reach Out" and "Lady Macbeth in Chains", it picks up and brings you through this beautiful ride of layered strings and vocals. "Olympus", "Beginner's Mind", and "The Pillar of Souls" were my favorite tracks on this project. The production is obviously the stand-out of this project but the fact that it was written solely based on movies is amazing. It's fun catching the movie references within each track.

This album is "experimental" in the sense that it's not the same sad Sufjan we know from 'Carrie & Lowell'. This is a breath of fresh air in the sense that it's a more laid-back and fun project for Sufjan.
