Metro Boomin is a well-known figure in the rap/hip-hop space, mainly known for his gloomy production style, big collaborations, and all-around influence on the rap scene. His most recent release proves his ability to produce great music, but also his ability to produce music that's not so great.
This album too was fairly inconsistent. The main issue to me was the surprisingly boring production on some tracks such as "Too Many Nights", "Raindrops", "Lock On Me", "All The Money", and "Niagara Falls". Although these tracks were snoozes to listen to, there were some tracks that stood out to me.
"Creepin'" is such a perfect listen. It features Metro's signature dark production style, gorgeous vocals from The Weeknd, a great beat drop, and a nice little verse from 21 Savage.
The intro track "On Time" is pretty solid. I love the background vocals and the marvelous ending the track has. It got me excited for the rest of the album.
"Superhero" features a solid flow from Future and a clean transition from the last track.
I'm fond of the subtle synths in "Trance" and Travis Scott's vocals also sound great on here.
"Around Me" features lovely rich synths and a solid melody from Don Toliver.
Although "Metro Spider" has an awkward flow from 21 to start off with, it quickly improves into a catchy track.
I loved the piano on "Walk Em Down" as well as 21 Savage's flow. The beat switch is a little out of left field, however, Mustafa's vocals make up for it.
"Feel The Fiyaaaah" is another quality track with a great verse from Takeoff and great production. This track is probably my favorite following "Creepin'".
This album is just ok. Some good tracks, and some meh tracks. Metro Boomin continues to prove that he has the ability to make bangers.
