Ice Spice - Like..? REVIEW

Ice Spice emerged as a SoundCloud "prodigy" after releasing her viral & addicting TikTok bop "Munch", and now releasing her long-awaited EP "Like..?".

The project starts off with the head-bobbing beat from "In Ha Mood", but is vocally unenergetic and doesn't seem to go anywhere lyrically. This seems to be a reoccurring theme for a majority of the songs: "Actin A Smoothie" is one of the most forgettable tracks on the EP with lazy and soulless vocals, Gangsta Boo has a decent Lil Tjay feature but falls flat with Ice Spice's bland vocals, and although "Princess Diana" has a solid beat with a hard-hitting slightly distorted bass and great flow from Ice Spice, the lyrics may display confidence but are sadly are repetitive.

The more stand-out tracks to me were "Bikini Bottom" and "Munch". "Bikini Bottom" displayed a minimalistic classic drill sound with a unique touch of flamenco guitar, adding some more "spice" to the track. "Munch", the song that essentially kickstarted Ice Spice's career, offers one of her best vocal performances on the project, with a catchy melody and flow featuring a hard-hitting drill beat; it's a song you can easily spin over and over again.

Unfortunately, this EP is mostly one-dimensional and disenchanting, featuring a few decent catchy bops here and there. Ice Spice has the hints of a great voice, but she needs to learn how to utilize it better and perhaps take herself a little more seriously.
