2022 was a great year for music. There were incredible releases in every genre, great debut projects, solid singles, and jaw-dropping album releases. Here are my best (and worst) albums and songs of 2022.
Top 10 Best Albums of 2022
1. black midi - Hellfire
Black Midi's 'Hellfire' is an album like no other. With richly dense and unique arrangements, theatrical vocal performances, stunning transitions, and solid songwriting, it is undoubtedly the best album of 2022.
2. Natalia Lafourcade - De Todas Las Flores
If the word "beautiful" was an album this would be it. The heavenly arrangements of strings, piano, and horns are what make this album paradise for the ears. Natalia's vocal performances are just the cherry on top.
3. Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There
This album was my first time listening to Black Country, New Road, and it was an experience I will never forget. This album is sensationally emotional, produced beautifully, and Isaac Wood's vocal performances/delivery is like no other.
4. JID - The Forever Story
This album has grown on me a lot. JID's flows, delivery, and production are what pull you in on the first couple of listens, but once you really sit down and listen to the amazing songwriting this album offers, that's when the all-around beauty of this project really hits you.
5. Quadeca - I Didn't Mean To Haunt You
This album from Quadeca was a wonderful surprise. From the beautifully eerie production to the solid features of Danny Brown and The Sunday Service Choir, this album is the poster boy for experimental hip-hop.
6. Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
This album contains some of Kendrick's most honest songwriting yet, containing some hard-hitting and also groovy beats, it's one of his more theatrical releases recently.
7. Big Thief - Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You
Although this album is 20 songs and an hour long it certainly doesn't feel like it. Every song on this project is so obviously carefully crafted.
8. Black Thought & Danger Mouse - Cheat Codes
Lyrically brilliant rapper Black Thought & songwriter/producer Danger Mouse came together for a heavenly project with solid features to top it off. This album contains some classy flows, great features, punchy beats, and aggressive vocal performances.
9. FKA Twigs - Caprisongs
Caprisongs is one of Twigs' more fun and dancey releases yet, and it's done extremely well. "ride the dragon" was one of my most listened-to songs in 2022. This album is addicting.
10. SZA - SOS
This album is surprisingly consistent for it being 23 tracks. SZA comes through with some of her best vocal performances yet as well as beautiful production.
Worst Album of 2022
Drake - Honestly Nevermind
This album is so bad it makes me mad. It's a horrible attempt at a dance album, with questionable lyrics, odd production decisions, and boring tracks. This album is made for people who just put on music to fill up silence, not to actually listen to.
Best Song of 2022
Big Thief - "Simulation Swarm"
There's something about this song that just clicks with me. Perhaps it's the gorgeous acoustic guitar. Perhaps it's Adrianne's incredible vocals. Whatever it is, it's perfect.

Drake - "Currents"
Whoever produced this needs to be arrested. Why did they think bed spring noises would sound good on this track? Why did Drake agree to rap over this? Why?
